Arden Theatre Company presents
LOOKINGGLASS THEATRE COMPANY's
Lookingglass Alice
In association with ACTORS GYMNASIUM
Adapted and Directed by DAVID CATLIN
On the F. Otto Haas Stage
May 10 - June 10, 2007

Arden Theatre Company welcomes Chicago's famed Lookingglass Theatre Company for the Philadelphia premiere of Lookingglass Alice, adapted and directed by David Catlin. Don't miss this fantastical, acrobatic adaptation of two of Lewis Carroll's most beloved works, Through the Looking Glass and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. This play was written for adults but is appropriate for the older (10 and up), more theatre-savvy child as well.

Lookingglass Alice whisks audiences away to a Wonderland ruled by a larger than life Red Queen where Alice truly defies gravity and Humpty Dumpty actually falls from his perilous ledge. Audiences will be mesmerized by Lookingglass' signature style of visual storytelling filled with daring theatricality and astonishing acrobatics. Combining witty word play, madcap mischief and fantastical flights of aerial fancy, Lewis Carroll's spectacularly surreal classics are brought vividly to life in this wildly imaginative production reminiscent of Cirque du Soleil.

Most enjoyed by children ages 10 and up.

"The success of this performance relies on its ability to make audience members believe they too have stumbled through the looking glass. The five cast members are immediately convincing as well as astounding in their energy." –The Evening Bulletin  [Read review]

"An impressive debut... wonderfully directed... a magnificent production... a breathtaking trip... the entire cast is full of contagious energy... cooler than the cool side of a pillow." –County Press Online  [Read review]

"Lookingglass Alice was escapist, fantastical theatre at its finest, and I really just want to see it again. Wow!" –Phillyist  [Read review]

"The production is a theatrical tour-de-force, one chocked full of clever and impressive physical moments." –Chestnut Hill Local

"Moments of beauty and grace that are unlike anything you've ever seen onstage" –Talkin' Broadway

"The acrobatic and dramatic skills of the company are just right for this wildly fantastical story of a world on the other side of the mirror" –Spirit Community Newspapers

"The genius of Carroll's texts is that they can be fully comprehended and appreciated by children and adults alike, on entirely different levels. Children will sense but not understand the adult world that lies beyond Carroll's fantasy world; adults will recall their own childish perplexity and wonder in that of Alice, without being able to experience it again." –Broad Street Review
