Music by RICHARD GRAY
Lyrics by JORDAN HARRISON and RICHARD GRAY
Directed by ANNE KAUFFMAN
On the F. Otto Haas Stage May 4 - June 12, 2011
A young professor loses everything in the world but the flea who lives in his vest. And that turns out to be plenty. He and the flea become the best of friends, start a circus act, and set off to tour the world. Together our heroes must overcome shipwrecks, cannibals, and tickling. Adapted from the last story by the author of The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, and The Emperor’s New Clothes, this new musical odyssey celebrates the excitement of the unknown.
Most enjoyed by families with children ages 5 and older.
THE FLEA AND THE PROFESSOR is produced under the auspices of the Arden's Independence Foundation New Play Showcase.

"Splendid entertainment, boasting eye-popping design, a witty script, and marvelous performances. The Flea and the Professor is a lot of fun, thanks largely to its style and showmanship. Satisfies the adults in the audience without talking down to the children." -Talkin BroadwayREVIEW
"The musical is full of comical moments, touching scenes, adventure and delightful music." -Delaware County NewsREVIEW
"A wonder available nowhere but on a stage." -Out With the Kids READ MORE
"The Arden translated a seemingly impossible set of theater challenges into a show that children could easily follow. The music was fabulous, the acting was wonderful, and the story was everything you’d expect when the greatness of the Arden meets an adaptation from the great Hans Christian Anderson." -Philly Parent Circle READ MORE
"The show was fantastic. Positively magical. It never ceases to amaze me how something like a hot air balloon or a flea circus or a pirate ship can be portrayed on the stage. The music was so catchy: the next day all of us were singing the songs. We’re teaching them to love this art form, to appreciate theater and become a life-long patron of the arts." -GirlyMama READ MORE
