August 27, 2015

(Philadelphia, PA) Arden Theatre Company announced today that the Pay-What-You-Can performance for the Opening show in their 2015/16 Season, Metamorphoses, will benefit Fork Restaurantís Chef Eli Kulp. Chef Kulp, one of Americaís most promising young chefs, suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury in the May Amtrak derailment. The performance takes place on Wednesday, September 30 at 8pm on the Ardenís F. Otto Haas Stage.

The Pay-What-You-Can performance is the Ardenís final dress rehearsal before Metamorphoses opens to a paying audience. In lieu of buying tickets, attendees will be asked to make a donation at the door. All proceeds will go to the Kulp Family Medical Fund.

Fork Restaurant is located near the Arden in Old City, Philadelphia, and owner Ellen Yin is an Arden Theatre Company board member.

Arden Theatre Company Managing Director Amy L. Murphy says, ďEllen Yin and Fork Restaurant have been valuable neighbors and long-time supporters of the Arden. We were heartbroken when we heard of Eliís injuries and want to lend a helping hand.Ē

METAMORPHOSES is by acclaimed playwright and director Mary Zimmerman, and is based on the myths of Ovid. The adaptation conjures a magical world where Gods and mortals co-exist and universal tales of fate, lost love, greed and death are shared. Tony Award-nominated for Best Play, METAMORPHOSES overflows with gorgeous imagery and visionary theatricality and was hailed by Washingtonian as ďa profoundly moving, nuanced piece of theatre.Ē

Tickets or reservations are not necessary for this performance and donations will be suggested at the door. For more information, call the Arden box office at (215) 922.1122 or www.ardentheatre.org.

Those who wish to make a donation but cannot make the performance can do so at http://www.gofundme.com/v3qfhc.
